Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third horror film in the Hatchet Series. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures as well as his escapade across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. The film features Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow, and Rileah Vanderbilt as Misty.
The film's main strength lies in the use of real-world special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of makeup effects that are practical as well as sets. This is different from many horror movies today that rely heavily upon CG effects. It also features some really horrifying moments.
The cast gives a strong performance, with Kane Hodder standing out as an incredibly terrifying villain. The dialogue is funny and clever enough to make it seem like a slasher movie from the 80s. There are also some really funny moments that provide a sense of some humor in the midst of the terrifying action.
Unfortunately, Decker Shado Hatchet 3 (2013) the film's budget was restricted to just one million dollars. This means that many locations featured in the film are repeated from previous films. One boat house is featured twice and most of it feels like a rerun of other films. It can feel almost familiar to those who've seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2.
Overall, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be remarkably similar to other entries in the series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of gory thrills and entertaining performances from its actors.
